About the Foundation

The NUTRICIA RESEARCH FOUNDATION is an independent Charity established in 1989 by N.V. Verenigde Bedrijven Nutricia. This company and, after a name change, its successor Royal Numico N.V. and a private Dutch charity fund, called Stichting Deckersfonds, took care of the financial funding. The Charity and its articles of association are registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under registration number 41155715.

The articles state as a main objective to financially support scientific research projects in the field of nutrition and health by providing research grants and fellowships/scholarships to qualified researchers.

The Foundation consists of two bodies, both being supported by the Secretariat. The Board manages the capital of the Foundation and assumes overall responsibility for meeting all the regulations laid down in the articles of the CharityThe composition of the Board is currently:

  • E.F. van Veen, Noordwijk, The Netherlands

The Scientific Advisory Committee advises the Board in selecting the various applications for research grants.  The composition of the Scientific Advisory Committee is currently:

  • T.I. Halldorsson, Reykjavik, Iceland
  • P.B. Soeters, Lanaken, Belgium (chairman)
  • G. Veereman-Wauters, Brussels, Belgium

Both bodies of the Foundation convene once a year (between end of October and mid November) to discuss and decide about the various applications for funding in the next year.

The Nutricia Research Foundation is a strictly independent Charity, having full and exclusive ownership of its capital and the Board having full and exclusive legal mandate to operate according to the articles of association and taking any decision deemed useful to fulfil its mission.
